Gyo-dong
Legal dongs covered Cheonghak-dongGyo-dong
When the dong system took effect in 1966, Sokcho-ri 6-gu was divided into Cheonghak-dong and Gyo-dong. On 1998.10.17, Cheonghak-dong and parts of Gyo-dong were merged to form today's Gyo-dong. The name has nothing to do with a Confucian school (hyanggyo); it is said to have been named Gyo-dong (校洞, "school district") because Sokcho Middle, Elementary and High Schools and the Sokcho Office of Education were located here.
